Real Ales
A superb range of traditional British ales brewed in the Lake District using British grown varieties of whole hops and floor malted barley can be ordered by the cask. The casks are available in 4.5 and 9 gallons. Please order well in advance as after delivery a week is needed for the ale to settle.
John Bewsher's Best Bitter
3.8%. Lightly hopped with goldings and fuggles, golden brown, a highly popular session beer.
Thomas Slee's Academy Ale
4.2%. A dark, full bodied, very traditional rich and malty ale, flavoured with three varieties of English hops.
Charles Gough's Old Faithful
4.0%. The lightest and fruitiest of the range. Pale golden, aromatic and well hopped, an ideal summer ale.
Brougham Ale
3.9%. Gently hopped with aromatic goldings, an amber bitter, a tremendous hit ever since its first trails.
1823
4.1%. Full bodied session bitter. Dark yet not heavy with a gentle bitterness from Challenger hops. Carefully finished with goldings for aroma.
A 36 pint cask called a "pint" costs £100 inclusive of vat.
A 72 pint cask called a "firkin" costs £200 inclusive of vat.
The cask is the property of the brewery and cannot be taken off the premises.
