Hunting, shooting and fishing

The Lake District is home to the wonderful fell packs and has been hunted by the most famous of huntsmen including John Peel, who is burried at Caldbeck Church and Joe Bowman. Bracken Bank Lodge lies in The Cumberland Farmers country. Scratchmere Scar, immortalised in the famous hunting song "D' Ye Ken John Peel" is next to Middle Wood on the Estate and can be viewed from the front of the Lodge.

Hunting will be offered again with both foot and mounted packs when the hunting ban is lifted. You can hunt with hawks on the Estate, full tuition is given.

Shooting and clay pigeon shooting on the extensive grounds are highly recommended. Quality tuition and guns are provided for newcomers.

Fishing is available for both beginners and the experienced. Tuition can be for individuals or groups. Sea, rainbow and brown trout, salmon, pike and grayling fishing are all offered. Both boat and bank fishing are available with tuition, rod hire and ghillies by arrangement.
