Bracken Bank Lodge also welcomes non shooting
and fishing guests to stay on a bed & breakfast
break. Guests who have not come to shoot or fish
need to note that that the lodge is a shooting
lodge with a very long history, it is not a standard
B&B. The lodge is a very old building and is
traditionally furnished throughout with antiques.
Shooting and fishing trophies and pictures
abound and there is a very colonial character. The
entrance to the lodge is a gun room.
There is a
wonderful atmosphere to the lodge and the smell
of gun oil, game, polished floors and wood smoke from the log fires in the reception rooms is all part of the
shooting lodge experience. The lodge is not a travel lodge or a country house hotel, it is a real country house and family
home.If you are looking for a hotel, modern accommodation
or are offended by hunting, fishing or shooting this
accommodation will not suit you at all and you need to book somewhere else. If you wish to make a booking for other
guests as well as yourself please ensure they have also seen
this website before you book, please do not assume they will
want to stay in a shooting lodge.
Some of the bedrooms at the lodge are available for B&B guests. All the bedrooms are
individually designed and have a flat screen digital television
, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, towels, alarm clock, complimentary toiletries, quality mattresses and crisp
white bed linen. Room 10 is a very romantic bedroom with a
king size four poster bed. The ensuite bathroom has an
antique cast iron roll top bath. This room also has a balcony
with table and chairs overlooking the gardens and fountain.Rooms 4 and 5 are two stunning bedrooms with very
impressive double four poster beds. These bedrooms
overlook the paddocks and estate,
both have separate traditionally furnished bathrooms with
original cast iron baths and Ralph Lauren tartan wallpaper.
The four posters are very high and a footstool is provided for
climbing into bed.
